The Beta Project was established in January 1993. The Project caters for people who wish to benefit from a supportive environment in which their life and social skills can be developed to the full.
Some tenants may see it as their permanent home and there is no pressure to move on. Others may see an independent life ahead of them and will be helped to acquire the necessary skills to move into separate self-contained accommodation.
While here we encourage tenants to become part of the ‘family’ group in the house, giving each other support and friendship. This means that tenants should be willing to participate equally in the life of the house including cooking and cleaning.
Tenants are encouraged to attend courses, visit the Neighbourhood Centres and find part-time work so that they can develop skills and meet other people.
The Support Worker, who is available five days a week, will assist with any problems that might arise and will liaise with any outside agencies that might be required for the well-being of each person.
